Seeing this made me so happy! I'm so glad for Daisy and for you and am proud to say that, with the help of many friends, Cedarfield Agility (www.cedarfieldagility.com)last year raised over $700.00 for the Bone Marrow Transplant fund at NCSVTH. I hope that this will help other dogs like Daisy (and possbily it helped Daisy herself)to not only live long and happy lives but to also help further the knowledge and skill of the researchers and vets and vet nurses who are all involved in helping our pets live healthier lives.
Hi Julie, Thank you so much for commenting on the video!. What a wonderful person you are for having a fundraising event for the Randall B. Terry Jr. Center at NCSU! I looked at your website and it sounds like the fundraising event was alot of fun for everyone!! (great idea to have a "howl-o-ween" fundraising event).
From what I understand all donations to the Randall B. Terry Jr. center help to reduce costs for EVERY dog owner who receives treatment for their dog. Although bone marrow transplants are pricey it is still only 1/5 the price of human transplants (i.e. approximately $14,000-$16,000 as opposed to 90,000 for humans). So every penny donated to the center helps to reduce costs!! You can donate as little as $20 for a "PAW" decal and the Randall B Terry Jr. Charitable Animal Foundation with match it 100% Just email Allison_crouch@ncsu.edu or call her directly at (919) 513-6427.
As far as individuals who do not have the financial resources (and who also meet the criteria for funding) there are organizations such as the Cody Reidel fund (visit www.reidelcody.org). You can also watch a video of Johnny and Kristie Sullens who worked hard to raise the additional money for their dog Angel. You can see Angels story at http://riedelcody.org/sites/default/files/angel.mov
So Julie the next time I'm in North Carolina I hope to stop by Cedar Feld agility to say hi! Keep up the great fundraising work!! I'm glad Daisy's video put a smile on your face :-)
